App Store Connect Screenshots Not Uploading? Troubleshooting

If App Store Connect screenshots are not uploading, the reason is usually right in Pitching Set's message. This chapter lists the messages and what to do next. The headings are the app's wording.

App Store Connect
Messages about keys and transfers appear in the App Store Connect window and name the next step.
No API key on this Mac yet.
Add a key, see Set up an App Store Connect API key. The window takes you there with Set Up a Key….
The API key doesn’t match.
Under Settings → App Store Connect, check the Key ID, the Issuer ID, and the .p8 file. Check Again reads it again.
Pitching Set can’t reach the key in the keychain.
Allow access when macOS asks (“Always Allow”), or add the key again in Settings. The dialog may be behind Pitching Set.
App Store Connect doesn’t recognize the key.
In Settings, check the key ID and issuer ID and that this Mac's clock is right. If the key was revoked, create a new one in App Store Connect.
The key isn’t allowed to do this.
It needs at least the App Manager role in App Store Connect.
Apple doesn’t accept this key.
This message appears during setup. Check that the key ID and issuer ID belong to the file and that the key hasn't been revoked. Nothing was saved.
The key is valid but isn’t allowed to read apps.
Give it “App Manager” access in App Store Connect and check again. Nothing was saved.
App Store Connect isn’t responding right now, so the key couldn’t be checked.
Check your internet connection and try again, or save it with Save Anyway and check later.
App Store Connect is limiting requests right now.
Wait a few minutes, then try again. During transfers, the app waits by itself and shows how long.
It’s unclear whether the change reached App Store Connect.
Reload and check the state before trying again. The app never repeats write requests blindly.
The image file couldn’t be uploaded.
Check again, then send it once more. Receipts prevent duplicates.
Something changed in App Store Connect meanwhile.
Check again to see the new state.
App Store Connect is still processing the image.
Check again in a few minutes.
The image doesn’t have the size App Store Connect requires here.
Check the format in Output. The sizes are in Sizes.
No connection to App Store Connect.
Check the internet connection and try again.
Sent. Apple is still processing the images.
This isn't an error. The images are sent, and Apple is still preparing them. The app asks at intervals and confirms them without another upload. The ring in the toolbar spins as long as that lasts; a click shows how many outputs Apple is still processing.
A slot is full
If other images are already in App Store Connect, turn on Replace the screenshots already in App Store Connect with the ones from Pitching Set. If a slot is too full for the swap, allow a short gap with Briefly make room while swapping when a format is full. The app then removes an old image first.
A field gets rejected
The app names the field and the reason, never Apple's free text. Usually, the field can't be changed in the version's current state. Create a version in preparation in App Store Connect and reload.
App Store screenshots not updating
Check the states in Screenshots and Headers. Sent and confirmed means Apple has processed the images for this version. Pitching Set sends only to versions in preparation. Whether and when the App Store shows them is up to Apple.
The key is stuck
Click Open Settings… in the App Store Connect window, then Try Again there.
Export check and images
Screenshot missing.
Put a screenshot in the image area, or delete the area in this output. Fix jumps there.
Required translation is missing.
Double-click the marker and type the translation, click Translate Missing in Languages, or choose Show Without Text if the text should stay empty in this language. The app never silently replaces a missing translation.
Image is missing or unreadable.
Add the image again.
Locate the original frame. It is unavailable or has changed.
Apple frames exist only on the Mac where you downloaded them; project files don't contain them. On another Mac, the canvas shows Locate frame. Select the device and, in the inspector, choose Locate File…, Choose Model…, or Without Device Frame.
The original frame is distorted, rotated, or cut off at the image edge
Click Fix. That straightens the frame, and ⌘Z takes it back.
A size or value of this element is out of range.
Select the element and check it in the inspector.
Project or image data is invalid.
Reopen the project. If that doesn't help, restore it from a project package.
Text doesn’t fully fit in its text box.
Shorten the text, enlarge the text box, or turn on Shrink to Fit under Fit. This is a note, not an error.
Text or graphics lie on top of an Apple original frame.
Apple's marketing guidelines allow them beside the device, not on it. Move the object.
Image is enlarged to …
The source image is smaller than the output. Use a larger one if it looks blurry.
This store takes up to 8 screenshots per device type.
This image wouldn't make it in. Remove images or create a second set.
App Store Connect takes up to 10 screenshots per device size.
This image wouldn't make it in.
The app sends the first ten and names the rest up front.
“…” isn’t in any dictionary
Check whether it's a typo. If it's a name, choose Ignore. That applies to this project and can be undone.
None of the chosen outputs is ready.
Fix the problems shown first, or choose another Scope.
Choose a PNG, JPEG, or HEIC image up to 80 MB, 16,000 pixels per side and 100 megapixels.
The file doesn't fit. Convert it or make it smaller.
The status bar can only be cleaned on portrait iPhone screenshots.
Clean Up Status Bar (9:41) works only there. Use another screenshot or leave the status bar as it is.
The status bar sits on a busy background.
Use a screenshot with a plain top edge.
Export canceled. Nothing was saved.
You clicked Cancel. Nothing appears at the destination, because the app moves files only at the end. Start the export again.
Languages and translation
Language Pack Missing
Confirm the download in macOS's dialog, then click Translate Missing again. The app doesn't change any text until then.
Not Every Language Can Be Translated
Apple Translation doesn't support this language combination. Enter the texts by hand in Languages.
Translation missing
The canvas marks the spot in orange, and exporting this output stays blocked. Solutions are above under “Required translation is missing.”
The project changed during the import.
An import per language runs in the background. If you change the project meanwhile, the app adds nothing, so no work gets lost. Start the import again afterward.
This file isn’t a readable String Catalog.
Choose an .xcstrings file.
The screenshot probably still shows another language
The Languages view points this out when a screenshot probably still shows the wrong language. Use one screenshot per language, see Localization.
Text suggestions
This Mac Can’t Write Suggestions
This Mac doesn't support Apple Intelligence. Write the texts yourself.
Apple Intelligence Is Off
Turn it on in System Settings. Open System Settings takes you there.
The Language Model Is Still Downloading
Wait until macOS has downloaded the model, then try again.
This Language Isn’t Available Yet
Apple Intelligence doesn't write this language yet. Write the text yourself or translate it.
Videos
The video is … long. App Store Connect requires at least 15 s.
Add recordings, extend To, or reduce the Speed.
The video is … long. App Store Connect allows at most 30 s.
Trim recordings with From and To, or raise the Speed.
Add at least one screen recording.
Click Add Recording….
“…” shows for less than 2 s and is hard to read.
Extend the caption's time range. This is a note.
A recording is missing
Recordings are only linked. Click Locate Recording….
The music file contains no audio.
Choose another file with Add Music….
App and projects
Pitching Set Is Already Running
A second copy changes nothing. Switch to the Other Copy takes you to the running one. As soon as you quit it, the second one continues by itself.
Project Unavailable
The file is missing or somewhere else. Remove from List clears the card.
A project can't be imported
The app checks version, IDs, checksums, and value ranges, and rejects a project it already knows. Open the existing project in that case.
Purchases and subscription
Purchase messages come from the App Store or the purchase page.
The purchase is waiting for approval
For example, a purchase request in your family may be open. You can close the window; Pro unlocks by itself as soon as the purchase is approved.
The App Store can't be reached right now
Check your internet connection and try again.
Purchases are restricted on this Mac
This can happen through Screen Time, for example. Pro can't be bought here, but you can still restore an existing subscription.
No Subscription Found
Restore Purchases found no subscription in this Apple account. Check that you're signed in with the right account.
Payment due
Apple couldn't charge the renewal. Check your payment method in the App Store. As soon as the payment works, the subscription continues.
Tips get in the way
Under Settings → General, turn off Show Tips. Reset shows tips you've already seen again after the next launch.
